is the cover still completely attached? Can't tell if the spine has hole or staples..either way, hanging on by a thread.

The front presents decent...the back is problematic, but really it's the one large tear that's the main problem. Could see being a 2.0....any chance at all might get a 2.5? or is there no way?

Nah, spine is fairly solid and the book has no chunks out of the cover.Front cover is also nice.

Solid 2.0....The sort of 2.0 that would fetch the high end of GPA, in 2.0.

And it is likely a 2.5 if pressed with a small/outside chance of a 3.0.

If it has OW/W or WP, better odds of a 3.0 overall.

@GAC

Buy it.

@CopperAgeKids I agree that the front cover doesn't look too bad, but the back cover is a mess. Looks like two pieces are missing on the lower back cover. Several small tears upper back cover. Also has severe staining on the back, and the major tear. I just don't see how this copy gets a 3.0, even with a press. I said 1.5 on the low end and 2.0 at best. Maybe if it's a Friday it gets a 2.5.

Also, looks like staple rust. Not 100% sure from the scan.

After being cleanup up I could see a 2.5. Most of the paper is present on the back cover, just folded over/under.

@CopperAgeKids @Everyone: What price range would you say? Is $500 too much?

@GAC - $500 would seem to be in the ballpark for a 1.8 to 2.0 FF #4 according to Go Collect.

It is not a 1.8.

2.0, as is.

@GAC

If you're buying big tickets, I'd suggest you pay for a GC or GPA subscription.

$500 is a decent price for this book. Try to get it at $450.
If the seller won't budge, $500 is a good price.

And torn 2/3 of the book's width.

$482 shipped (I'm in Canada, seller in USA, and it includes a buyers premium).

$482 shipped is a very good price.

12 month average in GPA is:

$342 1.8
$603 2.0
$648 2.5
$731 3.0

One of the most recent sales in that range is a 2.0 at $795....last 2.5 at $709, 3.0 at $687.

Again, if you're buying big tickets; you need GPA.

What happens if the next time that you find a good deal on a book, and while you're waiting for a boardie on here to do the research for you, someone who sees your post...Googles the book and buys it?

Thank you!! You are correct...I will definitely be getting a Go Collect account at least for sure and more than like a GPA. I do sincerely appreciate all the info you guys provide!!! A lot of good, knowledgeable folks on here. Thanks!!

Just sayin that is a pretty solid $800 book, after it's pressed and slabbed.

2.5 all day.

If you luck out and get a 3.0, which is unlikely;all the better.

Either way, this is the only big SA super hero key that can be had for under $1000 in 2.0....plenty of room for growth.

I'd tell anyone who offered me less than $800 for this book to kick rocks.🙏

The Timely Sub-Mariner comic was cancelled in mid 1949.

edit: look like he had some guest appearances in the mid '50s. Last I found was 1955
