Can u educate me on what a treasure hunt vehicle looks like? I can not tell anywhere on the cards or cars they are TH vehicles. I know nothing about hot wheels. Just curious.

From my experience there would be a TH in the decal or paint scheme. There could be a custom color variation with the regular treasure hunts and possibly another color or wheel upgrade with the super treasure hunts. They were usually short runs as well. Maybe 1 or 2 per case. In the earlier years of the treasure hunts the card actually indicated that it was a treasure hunt. Recently that went away and you actually had to hunt and peck through all the cars and know what to look for. They made them harder to find.

Couple of characteristics indicate a TH.

For one, you are right, they no longer tell you they are Hunt cars - on the package..,.one must look for the characteristics. Before 2012, they did.

On the Secret cars.,, It will be the "flame in circle" emblem HW introduced around 2012. It will be located on the car, visibly - top or viewing side, but also printed behind the car, on the blister backing card. Some indicate that "you have found a Secret Hunt car"...etc....

It is located behind the car and imprinted on the backing card...like this....hard to see....but that is why it is "secret" - IMO. Sometimes, they just have the "HW flame symbol" and no writing. More difficulr in some ways.

For Super THs...it seems to be a little easier, BUT...for these, they are much, much , much harder to find.

All Super THs are a different color than the regular line cards. HW calls the colors "Spectraflame" red, gteen, blue, etc.

All Supers will have "TH" screened on the car somewhere visible - top or side.

All Supers will have REAL RIDER wheels with Rubber tires.
- line cars all have molded plastic wheels.

Here is a pic of a "TH" emblem and different wheels, as shown on another set I will auctioning off (Dodge Daytona & Superbird combo).

Notice the differences,in color, wheels, and "tampos" - this is what the decals are called in the HW universe.

I hope this helps.

Best regards and thanks for viewing the auctions.

Tim

Cool cars Tim. I used to be an avid collector and dealt a lot in high end cars (employee Christmas set dairies and buses, etc). I feel that when Mattel killed the trade forums on the Hot Wheels Collectors site, things started to cool down a lot for the collecting community. There was no longer a nice dedicated place for collectors to "meet", chat, and trade. The other existing forums just don't seem to hold a candle to what HWC used to have.

I think the Real riders are some of the coolest.

And Marc...yeah I agree....HW have oversaturated the market.

I for one only collect muscle cars that are cool, Supers, Secrets, Batmobiles, and some "Screen time" cars, because they are usually animated related, so they do for into my collecting scheme.

I've scaled back a lot on these.

Hey community.

I just posted a couple more HW auctions, AND more to come this week.

Included is also a VHTF "wrong facing production error" in C9.4+ or better condition.

Good luck and thanks for viewing my auctions.

No more forum on HW? Not even for the Red-line members?

Hmmm...bummer!....with the screw up last year for new registrations....HW - although trying to make right....lost me as a member for TRC. oh...I rcvd a free 2018 HWC membership, because they screwed up, but nothing more. You'd think they would have did what Funko does to keep customers....surprise customers with free stuff....out of the blue packages of other lines. I belonged to The Marvel Collector Core for a while....Funko sent me a Smugglers Bounty box free just to get me interested in the subscription.

I thought that was so cool.

But oh no.....they/HW think just an apology is all we needed.

They chose poorly.

They probably still have RLC forums but not the trade boards. The trade/sell community is what made the site worth visiting.

I have several Green Shelby Cobra, Gold 6 Spoke Rims Treasure Hunt Cobras from the 90s in boxed up in the closet somewhere, not sure what they are worth. I'll probably just give them the little neighborhood kids or something. I got a whole big box of Shelby cobra Hot Wheels cars still boxed up from pre-2002.

*Bright smile*

...or you can send them to me!!

Seriously....I do the same with the local kids....if I am out in the yard, and some kids walk by...I'll run in.....and then pull out a couple of cars.....and then hand them to the kids....and turn around.

That stand there with eyes batting....."uhm...what just happened?"....and then they smile and their day is made.

:o)

Generosity is only one HW car away!

LOL
