Purchased a book yesterday that has 75¢ written on the back cover in pencil.
Would a regular press/cleaning remove the writing?
Thankfully the person wrote lightly with said pencil. Doesn’t seem to have any indents from writing on the book.

Yes, I believe a clean and press would make this disappear.

writing on a comic book is a pet peeve of mine...i am not a fan of it...you might even be able to remove it with a vinyl eraser

@TellEmSteveDave Don't go near any comic with an eraser unless you are a fully qualified book restorer.

If it is pencil, it will clean up with a dry erase and press. If it is a grease pencil mark it could leave behind remnants of the writing that has made its way into the fibers of the paper.

@Redshade Ha don’t worry about that. I get nervous enough cracking a slab.

@CFP_Comics it’s definitely regular pencil.

Thanks for the input y’all.

So may we see what the book is and its grade?

It’s history, that book was priced at 75 cents at one time. That sort of thing does not bother me at all. Little Johnnie’s name written on one, that bugs me more for some reason.

Have it CPR'd...based on the FC and the pencil notation on the BC...my guess is a 9.6 with a CPR.

The minor abrasion at lower staple isn't much, if the BC is as cherry as the FC, ya may just land a 9.8.👌

@CopperAgeKids definitely getting the CPR treatment. Just wanted to see what people said about the writing and if it could be removed.
Don’t think it will hit a 9.8, it has a few issues that I would think wouldn’t land that grade. Hopefully 9.4/.6
Appreciate the info.
