Superman #1000. Who's in for multiples?5312

Collector Drogio private msg quote post Address this user
Face it...they should have just stopped at 999 and rebooted. No matter how good of a cover they put out, it will never live up to expectations of what we all think issue 1000 should be.

But these are still bad even for issues 1-999...

Yeah...like manquins flying up up and away...

Ok, we get Alex Ross to do the cover based on this design.

Are they colliding with each other? How about a little respect for personal space?!

Ug. Is it even finished? It looks like he really phoned in the clip-art Superman.

This issue must be cursed. Even artists I like, even great artists, are screwing this one up. Here are two more, by Nicola Scott (kind of bad) and Tony Daniel (kind of okay).

I think the main cover, variant A, is still the best (by default). I also like the Jock one, and the one by Fabok. Dell'Otto would be the winner, IMO, if not for the unfortunate bulge.

This looks like one.. BIG S .."Superman of America" glee club.
"We are poor little lambs that have lost our way..."

...... or

Gathered together from the furthest corners of the universe to fight evil,
these are today's SUPER FRIENDS!!

It would have been nice to make the faces correspond to the time.
40s = Max F's cartoon, 50s = George R., 60s = first tv animated from Filmation, 70s = Chris R., 80s = Ruby Spear's version, 90s = Dean Cain, 2000 = Tom W., Justice League Unlimited version, Brandon R.'s version & finally, Henry C's version.

Signed up for all the "decades" and my lcs is getting their own george perez variant.gonna pick up a few of those with the hope of trading them off for other variants at the different cons we go to in the region.btw, lcs is summit.the perez variant is cartoony so it fits w all the other variants, all just not quite right.also a friend "lucked" up and we got to pre-order the jim lee cover which i think may just be the plain, original cover idk but its signed by around 6 artists including jim lee and will come graded.

I think the "Supes through the Ages" isn't too bad either.

Instead of the hair...I noticed more - how the "S" has changed over the years.

That is a cool touch.

It would be a cool touch if it was remotely accurate.

Man I feel like such a negative bastid every time I write in this thread, but yet still feel its deserved lol 🤯

I really wouldn't know....as I haven't really been a Superman fan. I like DC, but lean more on the villain side for that company.

That is also not true for Batman - because he is a fav too.

IMO - I like opposing sides. Good for the mind - and an opp to possibly learn something new.

Cheers!

I would buy ten of these.

Is this really one of the covers? It's the only one I'd buy. I'm not going to buy any of these just because the number 1000 is printed on it or a favorite artist. It's the principle in this case.

Initially, I thought it was. But apparently, it's the placeholder image.

yeah.. If the concept was taken further / given a bit more love it would have been better. ( are forgetting the blue/white electric superman?)

As it stands though, it does feel like an anniversary cover more than the others so I have ordered one.

No @Wraith, not forgotten, adjusted to be without.
For long time fans, it's not just electric Superman, it's also Kandor's Nightwing, Clark Kent, his temp. Gangbuster, Kingdom Come (aka from Earth 22 in the JSA) and other versions that lasted more than a few minutes.

You could have all his alter egos and different looks carrying either the original version or the newest version above a cheering crowd of themselves.

What? You want to replace Darkside with Lex?
Isn't Lex STILL a JL member who knows Batman is Bruce?

Give the poor guy a break. They've been making him a business man for decades. For that matter, he's been a president, his own clone, married, a media mogul and a super hero. Maybe they can make him a magical imp!

Hmmmm.....

Gene Hackman - not too bad, because he was first for the modern version

Kevin Spacey - I'll pass - couldn't hold it against Hackman

BvS - that "Facebook guy"....whatever his name is.....who cares!!....I thought he "tried to hard to please the DC fans" HE SUCKED!!

Smallville Lex - can't remember his name, but for a young TV version of LL....I kinda liked him.

Sooooo....Hackman for the movies....by far the best.....and.....Whatever the guy's name was for Smallville Lex....he gets a nice 2nd place.

IMO....*smiles*.....

@wraith - one could also slide in the "Blacksuited Superman" of the 90s, in addition to "Steel", "Cyborg Supes" and the "Kid Supes" too - right next to "curly haired surfer dude clone Supes"!

:o)
