Suspect... don't underestimate the old-timers! lol If papa Bush was doing it in his wheelchair at 90+ years old, i don't doubt Stan acting as "The Man" would do it too. |

A friend of mine asked me the other day if there was anyone I'd be surprised of, if I heard they had been accused on sexual harassment or inappropriate behavior. My answer then and now is NO. At this point there isn't anyone that would surprise me. |

First off I want to make this clear. I am not a fan of Stan Lee. Never liked him. Liked what he had his hands into (pun intended) for most of his life. But I must ask. Where did these professional home care givers learn their "taking care of elderly men" skills? The man is old and senile. You make adjustments or you notify your company that they need to assign male assistants to Mr. Lee's health care needs. Simple. Unless the goal is a financial settlement from the multi-millionaire famous person. We ALL know what's up here. No matter whether Stan Lee did these things or not. |

fine print: This is a meme popularized a few years ago although whether Lee actually said it or not is questionable. Also, I do not condone this type of behavior. |

Has anyone not been to a nursing home or never had a grandparent get this old? Older men lose their filter at some point, and they just can’t help it. My grandfather just got put in a home, he was always the most respectful man I ever knew. He says things to the nurses now that are mortifying. Maybe that’s not what happened here, but Stan being at 95 years old it’s a damn good possibility that he’s completely lost his marbles. +1 on CF’s theory as well. Cash grab. |

I retired from the California Department of Corrections a few years back. Before I retired I worked in a medical guarding unit. Part of my job was to escort the nurses into the inmate rooms for "nursing duties". Some of the inmates were scum. Child molesting, predatory rapists. Really disgusting feeble old men. Some would purposely mess themselves to get cleaned by the nurses. It was really great to see veteran nurses handle the inmates who would get out of line. A simple hard "flick" in the right spot would send the message. Soon the inmates learned not to be disrespectful or suffer the consequences. It's all about letting them know who is in charge and that you are there for a specific job and nothing else. If you are fair, firm and consistent in your duties you will build a reputation that you are professional and not one to be messed with. I'm telling you this story because I think that part of the problem, in Stans case, is a lack of training of the caregivers. When dealing with elderly men who become inappropriate, the nurses need to firmly remind them that their behavior is unacceptable and will not be tolerated. Just my opinion. |

I you are working as a professional nurse / nurse's aide, etc. and you do not feel you are in control when dealing with a 90+ year old man you are in the wrong profession. You need to develop a much thicker skin before putting yourself in a position to care for the elderly.

Regardless, the looniness of our current political and social climate, makes this simple accusation, part of this supposed systemic nature of men being sexual predators and unsavory beings. Its comical really. Be careful. Be VERY careful with all this "stuff" that's permeating our society and it's neo social graces. This kind of talk has the "boy that cried wolf" theory all over it |

Quote:Originally Posted by drchaos I didn't call Stan a "Predator" I simply stated (correctly so) that the current social climate, WILL do so, and rapidly, regardless of guilt or innocence! No "old man" ever truly presents a danger to anyone 20, 30, 40 years their junior. Doesn't mean they can't partake in objectionable and socially "unacceptable" behavior and that's the real problem. This specific accusation, has become the type of stain that will not wash off easily, if ever! |

Oh, and i'll predict right here on this board that this accusation will eventually kill Stan Yep, i'll give him max another 6 months. Not much of a prediction for a man at the ripe ol' age of 95 I realize, yet still.
