Toys

Toys - show 'em if you got 'em44

Collector ComicWiz private msg quote post Address this user
Seeing some familiar faces - would be cool to see the range of different toys people collect. I'm all over the place, collecting pre-war tin and pressed steel and wind-up toys, but concentrate mostly on 80's toys, especially Kenner Star Wars.

Show me what you guys have in your collections or the toys you collect

I'll kick things off with a preproduction (first shot) Hawkman from the DC Universe Classics, a Toy Biz Hawkman MOC and DC Hawkman comic to show some love to Joe Kubert.

It's not on display right now, but this is one of my favorites from my collection: The Uncanny X-Men X-Force Deadpool from Toy Biz (1992). Bought it a few years ago for $15 at WonderCon, now the lowest on eBay is $60.

Probably this set, and the AWA (I NEVER see the Mat Mania series for sale loose), I've been working on the hardest lately. I need 9 LJN wrestlers, but I only want loose, MINT! That's a tough combination knowing how much these were played with by kids (myself included), back in the 80's.

Nice post Joe

I used to have so many things, but got rid of them years ago. Star wars stuff first, then marvel legends. I probably should not look at this thread too much.
could be dangerous

Sweet Jay!

I remember seeing an MOC Remco/LJN High Flyers tag team set (of the great Greg Gagne and Jim Brunzell) for $600 thinking that was crazy, but you do have a point about these being very hard to find in nice shape because of the high play factor. Awesome collection man and thanks for sharing!

The following is an unproduced Kenner hard copy. Hard copies are usually made of urethane and/or casting resin and are the final stage in the early workflow process of producing an action figure. Both their material, and their achievable level of sculpting detail makes them ideal to produce steel molds required for high-volume injection molding of plastic. As you can imagine, this early preproduction process can be both time consuming and costly. The fact it is unproduced makes them seemingly more desirable to those who collect only example preproduction or prototype pieces. The interesting thing about this particular hard copy (and perhaps why it was never produced) is that it's a Keaton sculpt that was likely made before the actor was changed to Kilmer (somewhere between 1992 and 1995). I was racking my brain trying to figure out a way to display it other than laying it flat on a shelf. I really prefer an exploded look in a shadow box like what I did here:
