Basil Gogos was an artist whose monster paintings graced the covers of magazines such as Famous Monsters of Filmland, Eerie and Creepy. His work is iconic and unique. In my opinion, Gogos was to monster art what Frazetta was to fantasy art. Here ia good, but short, article on him.

@Jesse_O
I agree 100%. His artwork always captured the perfect likeness of the creatures & monsters that I loved. There's no telling how many copies of all those books I picked up as a kid based solely on those covers! It's a sad loss & my heart goes out to his extended family and friends in their time of grieving. RIP Mr. Gogos, you will be missed.

Sad news, I really liked his art especially the pop of color infused in to his paintings. He was really able to capture expression and emotion in his portraits

I think I was 3 or 4 years old the first time I saw it and it scared the crap out of me. I'm pretty sure it gave me nightmares for years.
