Overall I'm very happy with my recent orders. A lot of 9.6's, but I didn't press any of them and the graders notes primarily talk about bends so I can always try for the 9.8 down the road. Despite my complaints of late I'll still use CBCS again. It could be wishful thinking but for some reason I feel like the wait times combined with the continued perception that CBCS grades more strictly than the other companies will (at some point down the road) lead to some kind of supply and demand related value increase for the CBCS slabs. Like people know the comics graded by CBCS are superior, but not many people want to wait 4x as long for books so they just go with CGC leading to less CBCS books on the market....

I have no idea what I'm talking about now so here are my books.

Amazing Spider-man #50 - 6.0 (White pages which i'm really happy about)
Amazing Spider-man #119 - 9.0
Amazing Spider-man #120 - 9.2
Amazing Spider-man #238 Newsstand - 9.6
Amazing Spider-man #252 - 9.6
Amazing Spider-man #265 - 9.6
Amazing Spider-man #298 - 9.2
Amazing Spider-man #299 - 9.4
Amazing Spider-man #300 Newsstand - 9.2
Amazing Spider-man #361 - 9.6
Amazing Spider-man #430 - 9.8
Amazing Spider-man #607 - 9.6
Amazing Spider-man #611 - 9.6
Amazing Spider-man #700A - 9.8
Amazing Spider-man #25 Campbell Cover B - 9.8
Marvel Super Heroes Secret Wars #8 - 9.6
Walking Dead #15 - 9.8
Walking Dead #50 Heroes Variant - 9.6
Walking Dead #81 ComicsPro Exclusive Variant - 9.8

I've been taking a gamble over the last couple years on these when I see them cheap. I was quite happy when the trailer was released knowing the movie would be a reality now.

THEY'RE HERE! Submitted August 10th, arrived courtesy of FedEx today; the mother of all TAT's...but that doesn't matter, because they arrived!

Peak happy has been achieved.

Fresh from the bubble wrap (yeah, about that...what happened to the cardboard sleeve/boxes?):

Nice Baba!

re: Hulk #344, I don't see the "ASM #300" in it. The book would have come out in between ASM #300 and #301, so Todd was almost certainly working on them at the same time, or at least very close to one another. ASM #300 wasn't the "homage monster" that it has been for the last 20 years.

If you're interested, I wouldn't mind you trying to convince me otherwise.

I don't get it either, but it makes every list of ASM #300 swipes, so I figured why not?

I'm a little disappointed in a couple; I thought the Venom #2 would come out higher; but its the devil's own luck with mostly-white covers that are more than ten minutes old.

I do have a question for you guy who've been doing this longer than I. I have two books, Thor #8 Gold & Carnage #1 Black that have a little circle w/ checkmark next to the grade. New guy question: what is that?

Picked these up on Ebay...likely in the VF range more than NM, but nice read copies. A Starlin/Weiss signature too on issue #10! Looks authentic, and done in pen so likely got them a while back . Not going to send them into VSP.

BabaLament: Why did you submit a Punisher #57 and only get a 7.0?

Surely you could have found a better one around. Fairly common book.

Nice batch of books.

I'm relatively new to this, so I submitted a bunch of books to see how they would come out. I submitted ASM #298 & 299 back in March, and they came back at 3.5 & 5.0. which was far lower than I thought they would be. I was expecting lower than a 7.0 on the Punisher issue, so I was pretty happy with 7.0. I'm still trying to get a feel for condition/grade, so I'll probably have some drek on slab if for no other reason that learning curve.

Collector Drogio private msg quote post Address this user
Expensive learning curve...but I hear you...my first few submissions to,cbcs and cgc did not go as well as I hoped. But learned from it and faired much better in successive submissions....might grade screen in the future.

I also now know 9.6s are damn near perfect...don't waste $$ on 9.8s unless youre buying as a future investment. 9.6s are a better deal if it's a personal collection/keeper thing....even some 9.4s display like 9.8s if you read the notes.

Totally agree @Drogio, 9.6s are often half the price of a 9.8. It's a solid copy at a much more reasonable price.

I had no way of knowing that 9.8 graded copies signed by Adam Hughes weren't what you were looking for. drchaos private msg quote post Address this user
I don't want to make a whole new thread about it so this is as good a place as any to post this. I was catching up on some paperwork and filing and as I was going through some books I bought recently I found some free Halloween Comicfest books included.

After the initial excitement of finding the free books I noticed that each and every one of them had a sticker promoting the comic store stuck to them, pretty much eliminating the chance that any of them every becomes valuable.

So I will take this opportunity to thank the geniuses at Time Warp Comics in Cedar Grove, NJ for wrecking these books. Way to turn an otherwise great opportunity to do something nice for your customers into a disaster.

Some stores do this on free comic book day as well. If anyone knows why people feel compelled to do things like this, please feel free to chime in.

I know its supposed to be an unboxing video, but I can't do video. I have been known to use the occasional four-letter word, and the mess of packing peanuts in the shipping box elicited more than a few. Seriously, what happened to the CBCS shipping boxes? I was not expecting a giant wad of bubble wrap & roll of packing tape.

If you want something packed with way, way to many packing peanuts try buying some slabs from My Comic Shop when you get a chance.

I bought about 75 books from them (65 or so slabs I think) and got seven or eight huge boxes in the mail. It took me the better part of a morning to unpack everything.
