Jim Steranko and Paul Gulacy, their style is so uncannily identical, one would think that one of them copied the other. But I think Steranko was doing comics first while Gulacy was a graphics or commercial artist.

I think Steranko was channeling Salvador Dali

So I have been focusing on my X-Men collection and added three issues that I was missing through ebay auctions this weekend. Two were inexpensive ones that I got through the same dealer. I actually paid less for the two comics than their combined cover prices, but of course the shipping charge cost more than the comics.

I took a chance on the third issue, a copy of #100. The dealer said he would give it a 9.4, but I could see from the scans that it was in the 8.0 to 9.0 range, and bid for that grade. It also has a signature on the splash page - Chris Claremont. It arrived today, and I say it’s about an 8.0 or 8.5. Here’s what it looks like, including the signature.

PS - guess which of these orders was shipped to me in an envelope and which was shipped in a box. Thank god for decent mailmen.

@cseale0223 @cseale0223 just a heads up...if you're planning on sending it in for grading, get it pressed. I have a flawless copy except it's a little wavy...came back a 9.4 with the only note being waviness throughout book. Will eventually crack it and have it pressed and regraded. For some reason silver surfers around is time frame are prone to that waviness...and I think I see it in your photos. Great pick-up!

@Drogio thanks for the info. It does need a press and a cleaning. I noticed that all of my silver surfers need a press.

Don't get to excited. It's the Toys R Us reprint.

My original is a CBCS 6.5

Checked this off my want list. I actually wanted a CBCS 9.8, but these showed up first (which is curious and could be the subject of another thread).

Nothing earth shattering, just filling in some holes in the collection. Somehow I had book 3 of Cult, but none of the others

I do love me some Conan The Barbarian! Ive been picking away here and there at the Title. Looking to make a run of #1-100

Again the Batman Year One Storyline is a favorite as well.

The Prestige Format Batman Cult books are highly unrated books IMHO and are great pick ups as Well!

I have some very nice unread Sets of Batman: The Cult if anyone is interested in a set.
