Midtown and Marvel pull Invincible Iron Man1405

Collector OrbitCityComics private msg quote post Address this user
Midtown and Marvel pull Invincible Iron Man exclusive cover due to "sexual innuendo" cover.

The cover that got nixed:

The new cover is exactly the same as this cover, except she is wearing the Iron Man suit.

And here I thought that cAc was a thing of the past.

On a more serious note, I really have high hopes for this book.

I'm not seeing any "innuendo". Nothing salacious or lewd to my eyes. Someone please tell me what I'm missing.

@mattness it's considered oversexualized since the character is 15

Someone needs to go teach high school and see how tame this cover is. Personally, I like the new cover better.

Ah, censorship at its best. I don't see anything sexuality about it. They should check out Campbell's vampirella covers to know what "sexual" means.

yeah he was under a lot of heat because of the age thing. Doesn't offend me but apparently it offended all the right people. Apparently her larger breasts and cut waist is too sexual for a 15 year old. Also, Orbit it's not actually a new cover. It's a second cover that released at the same time. Midtown canceled people's preorders for the unarmored one.

maybe midtown needs to talk to the hand
seriously. I hope they also have removed 80% of comics published from 1986 to present.
Artist do seem to draw very provocative looking women
Or is that my depraved fan boy mind going over time
Cheers

What book is her first appearance. I believe she appeared sometime during Civil War II, but not sure when.

Does Tony Stark have dementia?
Why would anyone give a 15 year old girl the means to destroy an entire city block with just a thought?
Teenage girls are catty, snide, and cruel.
Who the 7734 thought this was a good idea?

@The_Curmudgeon Marvel's attempt at attracting a certain type of demographic to read their comics.

Invincible Iron Man #7, Road to Civil War is bannered on the top of the cover.

@The_Curmudgeon if you read infamous ironman you can find out how civil war 2 ends. Not going to outright say it cause of spoilers but you can probably guess

I didn't see anything wrong with this original cover guess you just have to that kind of mind set to think that way more worried about the people disproving this cover than the readers...

Everyone needs to settle down bout this, it's a comic book cover who cares....& neither marvel or midtown has a problem with the cover until some started to complain about it...like get over it, it's a comic

new cover isn't any better. Looks like she's wearing red/gold spandex, not an iron suite. They might as well have kept the original cover.

How is that Ironman not okay, but NYX 4 all fine and dandy? To me, I always thought that the NYX 4 cover was risqué especially considering Laura is a young teenager.

Maybe Tony always regretted his turning down Squirrel Girl to be his partner back in her first appearance and thought "Hey, let's give these new kids a chance" and tossed her some armor.

The funny part of the whole thing to me is that there will probably be somewhere around 30 variant/exclusive covers, and I am sure there will be some that will be far more "sexually charged" when compared to this one. In comics, and exclusive covers in particular, I am not always convinced sex sells. I often prefer covers that have something to do with the story inside, and I am hoping a decent artist designs such a cover.

Maybe has to do with the rating of ironman Teen and NYX mature content

That's like saying child porn is ok because it's mature content.

@Brian I thought of that too, but it's still a Marvel comic with a young teen girl posed provocatively on the cover, and in my opinion the NYX 4 is more so than the Ironman book. The social climate we are living in now has changed a lot since 2004. I think that has a lot to with it.

@Despain
When NYX was published Marvel owned their characters. But as we all know Disney bought them up. And they will be more conservative with book covers one would think for their image.

@Revelations Excellent point.

@southerncross I guess. Disney is still allowing Deadpool to run rampant, and he's anything but conservative.
